 The River Bend Trail, was established by the hard work of the River District Development Foundation. Comprised of extremely dedicated volunteers throughout our community, the Foundation raised over $1 million dollars to initially purchase and develop over 1.25 miles of old railroad corridor from Canadian National. Paving began in 2014 and is continuing today with the recent paved addition from Cooper Street to Pine Ridge Avenue. To date, the trail covers almost 7 miles. The latest addition allows the River Bend Trail to connect Council Grounds State Park/Merrill Area Recreation Complex to the Pine Ridge Shopping area!! The trail features paved walking/biking/hiking trails. The rennovated Nicklaus Bridge over the confluence of the Prairie & Wisconsin Rivers, scenic rest areas with benches, interpretive education panels, wayfinding signs, fishing and wildlife iewing opportunities, and access to the beautiful Wisconsin river that hasn't been possible for over 100 years.  At the Trail Head of the River Bend Trail (404 South Park Street) is the newly finished Agra Pavilion. This beautiful facility was made possible through many generous donations and fundraising by the River District Development Foundation, in conjunction with Agra Industries and numerous other local contractors. It is available to rent year round!
